Saudi Arabia offers different routes for international applicants. A place on a degree programme, a scholarship award and permission to enter the country are separate decisions. Begin with the subject and degree level you want, then confirm the institution’s entry requirements, available funding and application route.
For an applicant living in Bangladesh, the Ministry of Education describes external scholarships as the route for non-Saudi students applying from outside the Kingdom. Internal scholarships are intended for eligible non-Saudi residents already living there. Choose the correct applicant category before starting a profile.
Understand what your scholarship covers
The Saudi Arabia Government Scholarship is a pathway to explore through the Ministry of Education and participating institutions. The current Study in Saudi portal distinguishes full scholarships, partial scholarships and paid study programmes. Compare the funding category attached to the exact course; the word “scholarship” alone does not tell you which costs will be paid.
For a full scholarship, the official portal describes tuition, housing and living support. Partial awards provide a more limited package. The Ministry also describes benefits that may be available to external scholarship students, including health care, housing and travel support under the applicable rules. Read your award letter for the actual terms, exclusions, payment schedule and renewal conditions.
Full scholarship
Compare tuition, accommodation and living support in your award terms.
Partial scholarship
Identify the costs you will still need to fund yourself.
Self-funded study
Confirm tuition, payment conditions and your full living budget.
Check your academic and language fit
Choose the level that matches your qualifications: an undergraduate programme after the appropriate secondary qualification, or postgraduate study after the relevant previous degree. Academic prerequisites, grades, age criteria, eligible nationalities and language evidence can differ by scholarship and institution. Check the live programme listing rather than applying one university’s rules to every course.
Ask whether your chosen programme is taught in Arabic or English and which evidence it accepts. An Arabic-language preparation route and an English-taught research degree need different preparation. For a master’s or PhD, read the department’s subject requirements, references and research expectations before writing your statement.
Prepare a complete document file
Build a working folder with a clear passport scan, certificates and transcripts, consistent spelling of your name, and the programme’s required application forms. Add language results where required. For postgraduate applications, prepare your CV, academic references and a focused statement; include a research proposal only when requested.
The Ministry’s public scholarship guidance includes attested supporting documents, a police-clearance certificate, medical checks and possible recommendations among the requirements. Follow the exact institution and visa instructions for which documents are needed, who must certify them and when they should be issued. Ask before paying for translations or attestations.
Apply in a clear sequence
Start by comparing programmes and their current admission calls. Create your own account on the application portal named by the institution, complete your profile and upload readable documents. Keep a copy of the submitted application, reference number and any confirmation messages.
Monitor the portal and your email for requests, assessments or interviews. Respond by the stated deadline and use consistent information across your application. An application submission is not an award. Wait for an official admission or funding decision before making non-refundable travel commitments.
- Shortlist your programme and funding route
- Check the current call and eligibility
- Prepare documents and complete your profile
- Submit and save your reference number
- Respond to assessments and await the decision
- Review your offer, funding terms and visa steps
Make a budget even when applying for funding
Write down tuition, housing, food, local transport, insurance, flights, visa-related costs and document preparation. Mark each item as covered, partly covered or your responsibility using the actual award terms. Include the timing of payments: support that starts after arrival may not cover the money you need before you travel.
For a partial or self-funded route, request the current fee schedule and payment/refund conditions directly from the institution. Budget for deposits and initial living expenses as well as recurring costs. Keep an emergency reserve and confirm your funding plan before accepting an offer.
| Cost | What to confirm |
|---|---|
| Tuition and fees | Full coverage, fee waiver or remaining balance? |
| Housing | University place, allowance or your own rental? |
| Living support | Amount, payment dates and any gap before the first payment? |
| Travel and insurance | Included, reimbursed later or paid by you? |
| Documents and visa | Attestation, translation, medical and application costs? |
Prepare for the educational visa stage
The current official Study in Saudi portal separates short-term and long-term educational visas. Its long-term route lists institutional acceptance, passport validity, financial evidence or a financial guarantee, medical documentation, insurance and evidence of the study language among the requirements. Follow the route connected to your programme and its instructions for applicants in Bangladesh.
Admission and visa approval are separate. Use the official portal, the admitting university and the relevant Saudi consular instructions for the current document list and next steps. After approval, confirm arrival arrangements, campus registration and any residence formalities with the university before booking your journey.
Get ready for university life
Ask the international office about accommodation, check-in dates, orientation, transport from your arrival airport and what to bring for registration. Learn how to access health care and student support, and keep digital and paper copies of essential documents and emergency contacts.
Read the university’s academic calendar, attendance rules and scholarship renewal conditions. If you are considering work, dependants or travel during your studies, ask the relevant official office about the permissions attached to your own status. Build your study plan around the academic opportunity and confirmed funding.
Beyond the application
Picture your next chapter.
University life begins with the right course, a realistic budget and a place to settle in.

Prepare with confidence
Questions to ask before you apply.
Does every Saudi university offer the same scholarship?
No. Programme availability, eligibility, funding and benefits differ. Compare the current official programme listing and award terms.
Can I apply from Bangladesh?
Check the external-scholarship category and whether your nationality, qualifications, age and subject are eligible for the specific programme. Ask the institution if any part of the requirements is unclear.
Is admission the same as getting a visa?
No. Admission, scholarship selection and the educational visa are separate stages. Follow the official instructions for each one.
