Check the academic progress, residence and reporting obligations attached to an award. Keep copies of the scholarship decision and university correspondence. Do not assume that receiving funding removes every personal expense or practical requirement.

The immigration authority currently allows qualifying study-permit holders to work up to 30 hours a week during the teaching period and full-time for a maximum of 90 days a year outside it. Confirm that the rule applies to your own status and any scholarship conditions.

A permitted maximum is not a promise of a job or income. Plan your budget independently of expected work and put your degree requirements first. Ask about student support, health services, local transport and orientation before arriving.
