Your destination, your decisions

Choose with a clearer picture.

Explore South Korea with an application plan built around your qualifications, subject interests and the full cost of studying.

Choose your subject and teaching language

Use the Korean government’s Study in Korea portal to explore institutions and academic programmes. Check the actual teaching language and the language evidence requested by your intended department.

Compare the curriculum, qualification level and campus location. An English-taught course and a Korean-language preparation route can have different requirements, timelines and costs.

Read the university’s admission instructions

Follow the programme’s published application schedule and document list. Prepare your academic records and passport details consistently, and check requirements for translations, certification and submission of originals.

Ask whether an interview, portfolio or additional academic assessment applies. Keep a record of the final application and monitor the institution’s official messages.

Separate GKS and university funding

Study in Korea lists government and institutional scholarship opportunities. Read the current Global Korea Scholarship notice and the relevant application track if considering GKS, and compare it with the university’s own funding offers.

Check eligible programmes, the selection stages and the actual benefits of the award. Do not combine deadlines or document rules from different scholarship systems.

Read the offer before you accept

Confirm the exact qualification, campus, start date, duration and any conditions. Ask for a written fee schedule and payment dates. Keep the offer and refund policy together so that you can compare options on the same basis.

Check who awards the qualification and whether it meets your academic or professional plans. Clarify any preparation course or additional assessment before paying a deposit.

Organise your application documents

Prepare your passport, academic certificates and transcripts, and the language evidence accepted for your chosen course. Check which documents need certified copies or translations. Keep your name and qualification details consistent across the application.

Make a checklist for each institution, including any statement, portfolio or references it requests. Keep copies of everything you submit and monitor the official application account for messages.

Budget for your first year

Compare confirmed tuition with accommodation, deposits, utilities, food, transport, insurance, travel and document costs. Ask which payments are refundable and when you need to make them. Check the costs for your actual campus location.

Keep your everyday budget separate from any official financial-evidence requirement. Include an emergency reserve and arrange viable funding before travel. Treat any scholarship as confirmed only when you have the written award terms.

Check permission, insurance and support

Use the destination’s official immigration instructions for your own study route and check any insurance or health requirements. Confirm the sequence with your institution before making travel arrangements.

Ask the international office about the conditions of your stay, including any limits on work, course changes or travel. Keep the academic and permission requirements together in your preparation checklist.

Prepare for arrival and your first semester

Confirm accommodation, airport or station transport, registration dates and the university’s arrival instructions. Keep your passport, offer, official approvals and institution contacts accessible while travelling.

Ask the international office about orientation, health services and any local registration steps. Understand your academic timetable and the conditions attached to your permission to stay before making work or travel plans.

Before you accept an offer

Build a budget you can use.

Keep confirmed university charges, everyday expenses and application-stage payments in one plan.
